St. Hugh Council #10885 was founded on May 6th, 1992 through the efforts of Father Thomas Crowley, former Pastor of St. Hugh of Grenoble Church - and District and State Officers of the Knights of Columbus. Over the years, the council has become an important part of the life of Greenbelt, serving not only St. Hugh parish, but the greater Greenbelt community.
In an economic environment that often promotes individualism and competition, the Knights of Columbus offers practicing Catholic men over 18 a counter-cultural experience: a fraternal brotherhood that is foundational for a secure life.
The Knights of Columbus is the world's largest Catholic family fraternal service organiszation with over 1.8 million members. It provides members and their families with volunteer opportunities in service to the Catholic Church, their communities, families and young people. Membership in the Knights of Columbus is open to practicing Catholic men in union with the Holy See, who are at least 18 years old. A practicing Catholic is one who lives up to the Commandments of God and the precepts of the Church.
The Council meets on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of each month at 7:30pm in Grenoble Hall at St. Hugh of Grenoble Church.

“It is an Order composed of Catholics and instituted for the welfare of Catholic families….Not only in sickness, but when death takes the support of the family away, the Knights of Columbus comes to the relief of
the widow and the orphan in a very substantial manner.”
- Venerable Rev. Michael J. McGivney, Founder
God of power and mercy, you blessed the Americas at Tepeyac with the presence of the Virgin Mary of Guadalupe. May her prayers help all men and women to accept each other as brothers and sisters. Through your justice present in our hearts may your peace reign in the world. We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God for ever and ever. Amen. - Knights of Columbus, Marian Prayer Program
